Chaplain Service

While his sons served as soldiers across in the Middle East and North Africa, John Lionel did his bit serving a chaplain, predominantly in France, he is pictured in multiple locations in France with Jewish soldiers from a wide variety of Regiments, including the Royal Engineers. His son Ernest was killed in action in 1917 but Lionel continued his service ministering to Jewish soldiers until 1919.
