Haim Charles, known as Charles, married Florence R, Hart in 1914 and was already working in the family business at B. Pinto & Sons, Cigar Merchants, 10 Hatton Garden, London E.C. when war broke out. He and Florence went on to have 4 children and although they spent most of their lives in London, at the time of the 1939 Household survey they were living in Paignton, where Charles applied to be a Special Constable.
