Sophie enrolled as a Nurse and her VAD card shows that by June 1919 she had worked for 3031 hours for no pay at Crosshill Hospital (as there is no record of a Crosshill Hospital this is more likely to be Croslands Military Hospital at 14 Stonebridge Park, London NW10). This number of hours worked was quite usual for VAD nurses. The 1939 Household Survey shows that she enrolled again during World War 2 as a VAD.
On 11th September Sophie sailed for Quebec on the Andania.
