The Talmud Torah School was a school for the teaching of elementary education in Hebrew, the Scriptures and the Talmud and in the principles of the Jewish faith and practise.  Talmud Torah schools were traditionally for boys only. Girls were admitted in modern times.

The School was founded in Manchester in 1880 meeting firstly in Winter Street, then Knowsley Street, then Mounsell Street before finally going to the newly built school in at Bent Street in 1894. The first wing was added in 1902 and the second wing in 1931.

In 1958 the Bent Street school was sold and in 1959 the new headquarters of the Manchester Central Board for Hebrew Education and Talmud Torah was opened in Upper Park Road, Salford. It closed in 2005.

The building at 11 Bent Street is now home to The Yard - a creative workspace and music venue.
