Solomon Ash Diary of Journey Home from Palestine
Diary written by Company Quartermaster Sergeant Solomon Ash on his journey from Palestine to England in early 1920.
Solomon Ash was born in Manchester in 1899. During the First World War, despite never having worked with food before, he held a non-combatant role in the catering depatment of the 39th Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers, serving in the Middle East.
Solomon wrote this diary on his journey back to England from Palestine in January to early February of 1920. You can read more about Solomon and see more photographs from his time in Palestine on his Personal Record.
