Noah and his brother Solly worked on their craft in Poland before moving to the UK, on the advice of their uncle, and established a successful tailoring business together in Leeds.

In 1916, family legend says that the two brothers, and their brother-in-law Max Goldcup, fled to Ireland to escape conscription into the armed forces, as they all had family in Berlin whom they didn't want to fight against.
