Louis had no siblings and his mother Selina had passed away when he was 10 years old, so when he was killed his father Alfred was left on his own.

Writing to the records office after his son's death, Alfred explained his need to know where Louis was buried so he could go and visit his final resting place, but the reply from the officer was that that information had not arrived in England yet, and may not for some time.
