Family legend
Louis was a PT instructor and was on the Glenard Castle on its way to the Corinth Canal which it was torpedoed. He swam for hours in the cold water. He was crippled for years from the wounds of this and hobbled around on crutches. The family finally raised some money and he consulted Sir Herbert Barker who was able to manipulate his knee and enable him in the course of one afternoon to walk again without help.
