Morris enlisted on 29th February 1916 and was awarded the Military Medal in June 1917. A black and white photograph on a postcard of Pte. Moss Aaron Levy (back row far left) with Jewish pals from the East End and Dalston, taken in London when they signed up, in 1916? Pte Levy was born in London on March 28th 1896. He was conscripted into the Royal Army Service Corps with a number of his friends from Dalston in 1917. He went to France for a short time and spent the rest of WW1 in Italy, centered around Florence adn Carrara. The regiments task was to move heavy artillery up to Northern Italy where the Italian army was fighting the Austrio-Hungarian forces. He later became an Italian interpretor for the unit.

A modern wooden frame wirth brown mount. Mounted inside is a black and white photograph of Pte. Moss Aaron Levy, the Allied Victory Medal and the WW1 War Medal. Also mounted is Moss's Discharge certificate which records that he was discharged on 16th July 1919 as he was no longer fit for war service. Pte Levy was born in London on March 28th 1896. A WW1 metal gift box of original cigarettes and tobacco from the Princess Mary's Christmas gift fund to the British troops in 1914. It also contains a small Christmas card. It belonged to Cpl Arthur Samuel Lazarus (14204) who served with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment on the Western and Eastern Fronts 1914-20.

He writes that the tassel he found on a hun's bayonet and found the purse and contents including teeth in a captured dug-out.

A friend that used to serve with him in the H.A.C came to visit him.

He writes he is glad that Rosie has recovered from her measles and asks if she did not write because of infection, but that he would not mind having measles. Florence Oppenheimer served with the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserves during the First World War. She served on several hospital ships and in Egypt and Palestine. She was mentioned in dispatches on 16th March 1916 for gallant and distinguished services in the field. Florence Oppenheimer later married Leopold J Greenberg, editor of the Jewish Chronicle, and wrote the Jewish Cookery Book.

An advertisement was placed in the national press inviting monetary contributions to a 'Sailors & Soldiers Christmas Fund' which had been created by Princess Mary, the seventeen year old daughter of King George V and Queen Mary. The purpose was to provide everyone wearing the King's uniform and serving overseas on Christmas Day 1914 with a 'gift from the nation'.The response was overwhelming, and it was decided to spend the money on an embossed brass box, based on a design by Messrs Adshead and Ramsey. The contents varied considerably; officers and men on active service afloat or at the front received a box containing a combination of pipe, lighter, 1 oz of tobacco and twenty cigarettes in distinctive yellow monogrammed wrappers. Non-smokers and boys received a bullet pencil and a packet of sweets instead. The towers of Poperinge, Flanders, can be seen in the distance. During World War I, the town was one of only two in Belgium not under German occupation. It was used to billet British troops and also provided a safe area for field hospitals

Aizen served with the Royal Army Medical Corps, Royal Engineer Mounted Division Medical and the Leicester Regiment during WW1. He served in India and Egyptian Expeditionary Force. He was born in 1888 in Hackney and was a tailor before he signed up in 1916. He was transferred to the Army Reserve on 5th January 1920

The accompanying note fromDr. E.C.Livingston states that Harris' wife was born in Germany and came over to England before WW1 to marry. They had a son, Harold Harris who became a Captain in the Intelligence Service and because he spoke fluent German he interrogated Goering. He was an old family friend of Dr. E.C.Livingston.

It has been made into a post card, and is in average condition. On the back is written 'Lew, 3rd from Left, Front Row'
