He travelled to the UK in 1920 because there was starvation and no jobs available. The British Army originally promised the on demobilisation all the Jewish soldiers would receive parcels of land for them to work on. However they broke their promise to the Jews and gave all the land away to Transjordan (King Abdullah). There was no other option for my father other than to travel to England to see if he could make a living there. That is where he met my mother, a refugee from Poland.
