Mentioned in Despatches

He was mentioned in despatches because he carried a wounded soldier on his back to safety.

National Hospital for Nervous Diseases

His whole Battalion was wiped out in the trenches and Isaac was the only one to survive. He was taken to the National Hospital for Nervous Diseases in King's Square, London and had to be strapped to a bed for nine months due to extreme shell-shock. Once he was released, he was nursed at home by his family for three years until he was well enough to go out and get a job.

Food poisoning in Egypt

His whole Brigade was portside where they all got ptomaine poisoning from eating bad seafood. As Isaac kept kosher, he was the only one who wasn't ill as he refused to eat the contaminated food.
