At the request of the chairman, the Rev. Jacob Phillips, on behalf of the
club, presented a gold watch to Sergt. Morris Baker, who had gained the
Distinguished Conduct Medal and the Military Medal Whilst on active service in France. Mr. PHILLIPS said that Sergt. Baker was one of a family distinguished for prominent and worthy military serviced. His brother Alec had been wounded and had played his part well, and his sister Miss Bessie Baker, had done excellent work at a military at Southport. She had been especially "mentioned" and would shortly receive the Great War Cross, a most coveted honour.
