Gazette Issue 30645. M.C. Awarded the Military Cross. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When all company officers, save one, had become casualties, he was sent forward to report on the situation. The information which he obtained was of the greatest value, and he was again sent forward to collect stragglers and secure the right flank of the battalion, which he did most successfully. He also repaired and made available for action three Lewis guns which had been rendered useless.
