Made a widow about 32 months after she married. husband had volunteered when son was almost 26 months old and she was 3 months pregnant with a second son.
Being widowed meant that Alice had to try to raise her sons, and eventually put the boys into Norwood Orphanage in 1924, and remarrying in 1928.With her new husband Alice had a daughter Hannah in 1930.
Alice died less than 6 months before her only grandson was born.
