Alfred was the son of Mary Wolfe (formerly Morris) of 87 Bedford Street South, Liverpool.
He joined the 17th Bn as Private 51647. He was killed in action aged 28 on 12/10/1916. He is buried at Warlencourt British Cemetety where his headstone has a very moving epitaph:
MY SON, MY LIFE, MY ALL. DUTY NOBLY DONE. MOTHER.
