They went to war very quickly ad at one stage he was buried by a shell burst. He luckily managed to dig himself clear.
Once they had to fight dismounted as they had lost all their horses.
He had a abiding dislike of the French as they were mean and would charge too much when soldiers were buying eggs, bread etc.
