Abram was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry at El Tireh, Palestine 19th September 1918. The citation in the London Gazette, 26th July 1919 reads:
"Lt. Benzecry brought his section into action in the open, under heavy fire, to cover the advance of the infantry. The effective fire which brought to bear on the enemy's position greatly contributed to the success of the attack. Throughout the day he showed the greatest gallantry and initiative in pushing his guns forward at once under heavy fire to support the infantry's advance."
Promotions
Abram became a Temporary 2nd Lieutenant in February 1915, and Acting Captain in October 1918, according to mentions in the London Gazette.
