Travelling, 1904

Maurice left Dulwich College in 1904, at the age of 15 and spent a few years travelling through Austria, Belgium and France focusing on his German and French language skills.

The Grave of a Jewish Member of the H.A.C., 19 March 1915

“At Le Touquet,” said Mr. Adler, “I arrived just after a young Jewish Soldier of the H.A.C. had been laid to rest – Pte. M Fuchsbalg. Together with one of the Chaplains of the hospital, I went to the cemetery and was able to set the grave in order. I ought to say that in the case of the burials of Jewish soldiers, I arranged that in place of a cross a sign in the shape of a T, together with the usual five Hebrew letters should be placed, where possible, over every grave.”
