Starting work with TFL

Before Jacob went into the army, the family used to have an antique furniture dealership but the business was lost when he came home so he worked at Hendon Bus Garage as a Bus conductor for 35 years instead of working for his father. He was very respected as a Jew.

When he passed away, his daughter went to the bus station and his boss said "I think he as more in charge of me than I was of him." He had a certain air of authority.

The Somme

When he went over the top, the guy on his right side was shot and the guy on his left side was shot but he survived.

Gassed

He was gassed in the tranches and sent home.

Personality

He had a very strong personality and stood up for people's rights. He wouldn't be scare to say something if he thought that something was wrong. He was very principled.

Growing up

He was from a wealthy Jewish family in the antique business and was born as a sixth generation Englishman.
