Alfred's family was not particularly religious and Alfred did end up marrying out of the faith.

War stories

They went to war very quickly ad at one stage he was buried by a shell burst. He luckily managed to dig himself clear.

Once they had to fight dismounted as they had lost all their horses.

He had a abiding dislike of the French as they were mean and would charge too much when soldiers were buying eggs, bread etc.
